The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change. Digital Channels Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed because of the remapping. The company said the new system was more in line with similar services. It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, causing user dissatisfaction. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she stated. Platform Context The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
